Benthic Oceanography Lab

Oregon State University

Welcome to the

Benthic Oceanography Lab

of the College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences

at Oregon State University

The members of this lab conduct research on diverse aspects of marine benthic ecology and sedimentology in shallow-water environments. Our research is typically focused in one of three topical areas:

•Biological alteration of dynamically important sediment properties
•The role of episodic sedimentation in coastal oceanography
•Mechanisms, magnitudes and ramifications of sediment bioturbation

We address the above topics by using state-of-the-art instrumentation to make focused measurements - mainly in the field. Where possible measurements are made in situ, and we also like to conduct manipulative experiments to test hypotheses. We hope that you find the information presented herein to be interesting and informative and thank you for your interest. Please contact any of us with questions or comments.
